TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox announced Tuesday he created a 32 member advisory council to help the city move forward with the Elevate Tuscaloosa Plan.
“This is a good opportunity to put a diverse selection of community members based off their perspective, their wealth of experience, to provide guidance and counsel to me as I make recommendations to the council,” Maddox explained.
The Elevate Tuscaloosa Advisory Council will consider the current plan that’s been proposed and make recommendations for the 21 projects and proposals related to it.
Advisory Council Member Gene Poole said he wanted ideas that will take Tuscaloosa to the next level.
“I’m on the convention and visitor’s board also for tourism and sports, therefore I think it will enhance Tuscaloosa to go to the next level so we can bring more people to Tuscaloosa so we’re not just stagnant,” Poole expressed.
The advisory council will look at areas that include convention, arts and tourism, connectivity, and parks and recreation.
The Elevate Tuscaloosa Advisory Council meets for the first time June 12.
