CLAYTON, Ala. (WSFA) - Two visitors to Alabama prison facilities found themselves under arrest Saturday in separate incidents, according to the Alabama Department of Corrections.
ADOC officials say Dionne Perdue, 28, of Grady, visited Ventress Correctional Facility, and Morgan Steele, 27, of Brewton, visited Bullock Correctional Facility Saturday.
In the first incident, ADOC says a search found that Perdue was found hiding a cell phone and charger, which were wrapped in black electrical tape. Perdue was charged with promoting prison contraband.
In the second incident, ADOC says Steele was found in possession of methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia during an inspection of the vehicle she drove to Bullock Correctional Facility.
Investigators said this wasn’t Steele’s first brush with the law. In November 2015, Steele was released on probation after serving one year for possession of a controlled substance in Escambia County.
Perdue was taken to Barbour County Jail and Steele was taken to Bullock County Jail.
ADOC says anyone can share tips regarding illegal contrabrand that’s being brought into the state’s prison system. Call the ADOC Investigations and Intelligence Division at 1-855-WE-R-ADOC (937-2362) or by logging on to the ADOC’s website.
