MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Champions reign supreme and that’s what the Alabama State Hornets are; champions once again after defeating Texas Southern 8-4 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Softball Championship Saturday.
Tied 2-2 going into the fourth, the Hornets broke it open scoring three runs in the top of the fourth to push ahead 5-2.
They would not look back, adding three more runs before it was all said and done, holding off the Tigers as they would only score twice more.
It’s ASU’s first SWAC softball title since 2016.
