BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Railroad Park was full of athletes this morning getting in a hard workout while raising a lot of money.
Workout for Water is a fundraising event where people donate money to get in a workout. Neverthrist, a nonprofit Christian organization, provides clean water to places around the world that lack it.
They teamed up with Iron Tribe Fitness and raised over $600,000 for today’s workout.
Iron Tribe Fitness CEO Forrest Walden said the fundraiser is a great way to raise money and remember those who don't have some of the basic needs for living.
“Essentially we just come and workout and recognize there are people all over the whole world that have to walk hours, literally everyday just for water, so we will replicate some of that in our workout,” Walden said.
This is the 9th annual Workout for Water and so far, it’s raised $4.4 million.
