HOOVER, AL (WBRC) - A new all inclusive park is now open in Hoover.
The new play space is inclusive for the hearing impaired, for children with autism and kids of all abilities. It includes play structures, a zip line and a splash pad. It even has state of the art bathrooms that allow teens and adults with physical disabilities to be able to change comfortably.
City officials say it was important to have this park inclusive for all abilities.
“We just forget sometimes what people with various disabilities are faced with every day like something as simple as a playground. And I am honored to be a part of the city where we have a City Council, employees that we have in Hoover that recognize that, and we have citizens that are willing to support it as well,” Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato said.
The park also has a 17-foot club house that can withstand a tornado and features a custom bookcase, TV and a wide variety of textures and sensory components.
All of this is at the Hoover Met next To Finley Center and RV Park. The playground is now open, but the Splash Pad opens May 15th.
