ST. CLAIR COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - Family and friends are remembering a St. Clair County woman after she was killed during Thursday’s severe weather.

42-year old Monica Clements died when a tree came crashing down on her home.

“Very happy person. Loved everybody. Just got along well with people,” said Ed Jones, her father.

Clements, a single mother, leaves behind her son Chris who was in the home at the time.

The 10-year-old was in the part of the trailer that the tree missed and was able to escape to safety.

However, where Monica was took the direct hit.

“Monica’s body was right over there, on the sofa,” said Jones.

Now, a son is forced to grow up with only memories and a father will try and remember the special bond he had.

“Loving mother, single mother,” said Jones. “Just her loving attitude towards people. She got along well. She always said she was the boy I didn’t have.”

Clements worked at a veterans home for HMR of Alabama. The company released the following statement:

“Our hearts are heavy as we grieve the loss of such a wonderful person. For nearly three years, Monica lit the halls of this facility with her smile. During that time, we came to know and love her and her son. This tragic accident will not remove Monica from our heart and minds. She will be remembered in same positive manner she carried herself. We will continue our prayers and support for her family and son.”
