TALLADEGA, AL (WBRC) - Several people were struck by a vehicle while crossing East Street on Friday morning.
Police Lieutenant Jimmy Thompson said one pedestrian, 66-year-old Tyrone Jordan, was killed on the scene. Lt. Thompson tell us Jordan was legally blind.
Lt. Thompson said the other pedestrians are all related to Jordan. Two children, ages 9 and 6, were critically injured and airlifted to Children’s Hospital. A woman in her late 30s in a motorized scooter was also struck and injured.
The vehicle, which was driven by a 16 year old, also struck a utility pole and a parked vehicle.
The section of East Street where the accident happened was closed for hours as Alabama Power replaced the broken utility pole.
Police say the vehicle stopped at the scene and is now impounded in a secure facility.
