BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - This coming Sunday morning, hundreds of runners will hit the streets of Birmingham for the 18th Mercedes Marathon.
The race will feature the deepest pool of elite talent since the 2004 Olympic Trials that were held in Birmingham. We’ll see runners from France, Kenya, Ethiopia, Mexico, and the United States, including several Birmingham natives.
A handful of men and women are trying to qualify for the Olympic Trials, which will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2020.
The Mercedes Marathon changed the course this year due to the construction of the new I-59/20 bridge downtown. The new start/finish line will be at Railroad Park.
You can watch live coverage of the 2019 Mercedes Marathon only on WBRC FOX6 News. Coverage begins at 7 a.m.
