BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - By now, most know or have heard the story involving former University of Alabama football player Willie Wyatt and his battle with a rare form of Multiple Sclerosis.
Willie and his family have been going through the rough fight for quite sometime and it has been difficult, mostly with transportation. Willie is confined to a wheelchair, and with him being a big guy his chair is large and its difficult to fit in a normal van. The family needed help to get around, but not any longer. Former teammates, friends, strangers, fans and former coaches banded together to raise money to buy the Wyatt’s a specialized van.
“We just knew something had to be done,” said Curt Jarvis, a lifelong friend and former Bama player himself. “This whole thing has been incredible and the outpouring of love and support has been amazing and in just three short weeks we were able to come up with the funds to purchase the van.”
The Wyatt’s were presented the van Tuesday evening through mobility works at 205-426-8261.
