Pedestrian struck, killed after accident on U.S. Hwy 280

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - A person was struck and killed Sunday night on U.S. Hwy 280.

Mountain Brook Police Chief Ted Cook says there was a wreck in the westbound lanes just after 8 p.m. between Shades Creek Parkway and Office Park. He says a person reportedly got out of the wrecked vehicle, crossed the median to the eastbound lanes on foot and was struck and killed.

Cook says the accident and pedestrian struck remain under investigation. Traffic will be effected in both directions while during the duration of the investigation.
