BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Expect a mostly clear sky tonight with overnight. The sunshine will return tomorrow with highs in the mid 50s.
Next Big Thing: Get ready for unsettled weather Thursday-Sunday. Scattered showers will likely move through the state Thursday with highs in the lower to middle 50s. Showers arrive after 5 a.m. across west Alabama and exit by the evening hours. Friday looks drier but we are still keeping a small chance for rain and Saturday we see heavier rain build in. We’ll likely warm up briefly into the 60s Saturday before temperatures dramatically drop. A strong cold front is set to move through but I don’t expect severe weather but do anticipate ponding on roads due to heavy rainfall in the afternoon and evening hours.
Arctic Air: If you are a big fan of cold weather, you’ll likely get excited about our temperatures Sunday and Monday. Temperatures will plummet behind a strong cold front Saturday night. Temperatures will likely stay in the low to mid 30s Sunday afternoon with windy conditions. The wind will make it feel like it’s in the 20s all day! There is a chance we could see a few flurries Sunday morning as the cold air moves in and the moisture moves out but that chance is low and mainly across north Alabama. By Monday morning, models are hinting we could drop into the upper teens for morning lows. Wind chills could drop into the single digits. Arctic air will only be here for a few days before temperatures moderate next Tuesday and Wednesday.
