Police: At least two random shootings are connected

BPD: Random shootings are connected

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Birmingham police say two random shootings are linked and it’s likely a third is as well.

It started just after midnight on January 3 when a 14-year-old girl was grazed by a bullet at the intersection of Old Springfield Road and Brewster Road while riding home with her family.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies have since put up one of their mobile cameras to keep an eye on things there.

About 10 minutes after that January 3 shooting, 28-year-old Carltez Clark was shot and killed. He was a passenger in a car on Parkway East.

In both cases the shots came from a person inside a dark-colored vehicle, and those two shootings Birmingham police believe are related.

Then, late on January 9, another victim’s car was struck by gunfire.

This time the victim and members of her family were turning onto I-65 from Lakeshore Parkway, when someone again in a dark-colored car shot at them.

Police believe this might be connected to the others as well.
