CULLMAN, AL (WBRC) - Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry begins a second term. Secretary of State John Merrill administering the oath of office Thursday night with dozens of supporters on hand to witness.
Sheriff Gentry promises to continue a tough stance on drugs, sex offender registration and verification, along with community involvement.
“We had a vision of taking the office and turning it back to the hands of the people. It has been geared towards the people,” Sheriff Gentry said.
One example of that is a state law change the Sheriff supported to move jail food funds into a public account. Previously sheriffs could use leftover funds for anything.
