Victims in Jefferson County murder-suicide identified

JEFFERSON CO, AL (WBRC) -Authorities have released the names of a man and woman who died in a murder-suicide in the Bagley Community of Jefferson County.

The Jefferson County Coroner identifies them as 39-year-old Michelle Allen and 43-year-old David Allen.

Deputies responded to Old Bagley Road just before 8 a.m. Wednesday on a report of a man with a gun. While looking for him, they received a call that a woman had been shot inside a vehicle at a home in the 8500 block of Old Bagley Road. Deputies arrived at that location and found Michelle Allen’s body.

While on that scene a man called 911 and admitted that he had shot the woman. He gave his location at a home in the 5000 block of Cindy Lane before disconnecting the call. When deputies arrived they found David Allen inside the home, dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Deputies say the couple had just ended their relationship.

The shooting put nearby Bagley Elementary School on lockdown for a short time.
