(WBRC) - Purdue superfan Tyler Trent passed away Monday after battling bone cancer.

The 20-year-old gained attention across the nation for his fight to raise awareness for cancer research. Tyler attended his last football game December 28 at the Music City Bowl in Nashville when Auburn beat Purdue 63-14.

Several Auburn players and Athletics Director Allen Greene met Tyler the night before the game.

“His story and more importantly, his attitude impacted so many. He counted his blessings, not his problems. My heart is deeply saddened, but enriched by a young man who’s resilience was beyond his years,” Greene posted on twitter Monday night.
