BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Larry Langford has returned to Birmingham after being granted an early prison release.
Langford arrived to Princeton Baptist Medical Center on Saturday around 7:30 p.m.
Langford was convicted on bribery, conspiracy and fraud charges in 2009 and wasn’t scheduled to be released from federal prison until 2023. Langford was to serve an additional 36 months of supervised time released upon his initial 2023 release date.
Federal Judge Scott Coogler signed an order Friday reducing Langford’s prison sentence to time served. It includes 36 months of home confinement with electronic monitoring.
Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin released the following statement about Langford’s return:
“I have been in close touch with Mayor Langford’s family. We want to make his return home to Birmingham as comfortable as possible as his family focuses on his health. We welcome him home to his beloved city and urge everyone to join us in prayers for Mayor Langford and his family.”
