BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The University of Alabama football team was able to leave campus relatively quietly Monday despite a pretty big game upcoming game.
WBRC was there as football players boarded team buses outside the Mal Moore Athletic Complex. Those buses rolled out of the parking lot just before 8 a.m.
They drove the team to the Tuscaloosa Regional Airport to catch a flight to Miami and a Saturday night a college football playoff game with the Oklahoma Sooners. Only a few fans came there to see the team off.
One of them explained why it was important for him to be there.
“Kind of relive some of the experiences that I had when I was here. And I saw on the news the football team was going to be leaving this morning to go to the airport. So I wanted to show support and hopefully catch some glimpses of some coaches and players,”Mike Lauro told WBRC.
The Fox6 News sports team will be in Miami Wednesday to bring reports during the week of Alabama’s preparation for another football national championship run.
