BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The family of former Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford has been informed that he is in critical condition at a Kentucky hospital and may pass within the week.
Langford’s family has been instructed to make arrangements to visit him as soon as possible.
According to information released by attorneys for Langford, the 72-year-old is currently suffering from several illnesses including end-stage pulmonary disease, emphysema, and heart failure.

Before serving as the mayor of Birmingham, he served as the president of the Jefferson county Commission. He was also previously the mayor of Fairfield and a Birmingham City Councilor.
