TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - Alabama starting cornerback, Trevon Diggs, is out indefinitely after breaking his foot in the Crimson Tide’s 65-31 win over Arkansas this past Saturday.
Diggs injury is just another blow to this defense, that is already missing multiple players. “We now have five defensive players that are out for an extended period of time that were starters or two-deep, and three of those guys are defensive backs,” Saban said.
Alabama will likely turn to Patrick Surtain II to replace Diggs. Saban referenced the true freshman by name when discussing the position, “Patrick has played quite a bit at his position. So we do have two guys that have some experience, we just don’t have a lot of depth right now. We’re going to have work to get some other players to develop and be able to play for us.”
Surtain has seen playing time in multiple games this season. He made his first start of the year against Texas A&M where he picked off Aggies QB, Kellen Mond.
