BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - A Tuscaloosa funeral home threw their first ever first responder cookout.
Hundreds of first responders showed up to feast on some six hundred hamburgers and all the fixings.
Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home hosted the event.
It was a great way to honor the first responders lost 17 years ago in the terror attack in New York City. And, it's paying it forward to all the first responders in tuscaloosa.
“We want to do this for our first responders. They are very important. Sometimes I think we forget what all they do,” said Danah Minges, general manager of Magnolia Chapel Funeral Homes.
“It’s fantastic you know. It’s definitely welcoming. It’s great with the community. And, it’s free food ha! How could anyone say no to that,” said Geoff Aplin of Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue.
And get this, we all know first responders can be on the move. So for all the first responders in Tuscaloosa who couldn’t attend, plates were delivered to them.
