Tara Hastings worked at WTOL from August 2008-2010.
Tara Hastings joins WTOL-TV from WLUK-TV in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where she served as meteorologist and environmental reporter.
Tara was born and raised in Hammond, Indiana, a town close to Chicago. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Valparaiso University. While in college she was a member of VUSIT, which stands for Valparaiso University Storm Intercept Team. Being a member of this team she was able to take a summer class that involved chasing severe storms across the plains.
Tara started her television career in Marquette, Michigan, also known as "snow country" where she worked as a meteorologist and reporter. During her first winter season she managed her way through a record-breaking three hundred inches of snow! A few years later another harsh winter followed her to Green Bay where the city broke its seasonal snowfall record with 90 inches! Tara says her combined years in Marquette and Green Bay gave her experience in forecasting extreme amounts of snow.
Tara earned her Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society (AMS) in November of 2005. In her spare time Tara enjoys cooking, working out, reading and cheering for the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs.
