BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The following is an editorial from WBRC FOX6 News General Manager Collin Gaston, which first aired on Tuesday, July 3, 2018:
Last week it was announced that WBRC's parent company, Raycom Media, has agreed to sell its television stations and production operations to Gray Television, an Atlanta-based media company.
Gray Television, whose media origins trace back to the late 1800's, has a strong history of localism and community commitment - the same things that are important for all of us at WBRC FOX6 News.
Even though some of our previous owners were not based here in Alabama, WBRC FOX6 News has always made our coverage and business decisions locally. That won't change. What will change through our new ownership are new ideas and approaches that will keep this television station relevant, competitive and vibrant in an ever-changing industry.
You have always counted on us to help keep you safe during severe weather, bring you breaking news reports and make sure to keep you and your family informed. Even though our company is growing, WBRC FOX6 News will remain committed to communities we serve across Alabama.
