MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Looking for something to do this weekend? If you live in Montgomery or are planning to visit, The New York Times' travel section is throwing out some ideas on how to take in in the sites and sounds of the 36105 over the course of 36 hours.

"In Alabama’s capital, you’ll find deep-fried bacon, stylish bars and revitalized neighborhoods. But the city’s real draw is its museums and other sites that focus on the evolution of civil rights."?

Writer Elaine Glusac lays out the city in a Friday, Saturday, Sunday format and provides times for each event you'll want to do.

Among the sites on Friday are trips to the Equal Justice Initiative's new National Memorial for Peace and Justice, a stop by the newly renovated Kress building, and at dinner time a trip to Central. After a long day of exploring, she recommends several bars including Aviator, Sous La Terre, and La Salle Blue Piano Bar.

Saturday starts with coffee in the Cloverdale neighborhood's Vintage Cafe, then it's off to the learn about the civil rights movement with multiple stops. In the evening, she'll have you heading to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival before a 10 p.m. "nightcap and nosh".

Sunday is all about "biscuits, then books" with a trip over to the Cahawba House for buttery biscuits then a ride over to the F. Scott Fitzgerald Museum.
