RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) – Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor held a press conference following a large drug bust.

According to Sheriff Taylor, Nathan Adams was traveling towards Panama City before being stopped for a traffic violation in Russell County.

A Russell County Narcotics dog sniffed out over $100,000 worth of drugs including nearly opioid 500 pills from Adams.

Three pounds of marijuana and a kilo of ICE were also found during the stop.

“We don’t know right now if fentanyl is on any of this it could be on something," Sheriff Taylor said. "We will test that at the forensics lab."

Fentanyl is the drug that can kill someone if it is  inhaled or absorbed through the skin.

Investigators in Russell County came across fentanyl disguised as a Percocet pill June of last year.

The charges in this case include trafficking of meth, marijuana, and possession of controlled substance.

Adams remains without bond at the Russell County Jail. Investigators believe this isn't Adams first run in with the law, so they're taking a closer look at his criminal record.
