1 dead, 1 injured in Birmingham shooting

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Birmingham police are investigating a shooting the killed one man and wounded another Sunday night.

Jahbrell Sturgeon, 25, was found dead inside his apartment in the 3000 block of 29th Ct. North.

Shortly after arriving on the scene officers learned an unknown black male had been dropped off at a hospital with a gunshot wound.
A preliminary investigation suggests Sturgeon was at his home with an unknown number of men.

At some point the shooting took place, killing him and wounding the other man. Investigators also observed evidence of drug activity, but are unable to confirm a drug related motive.

"It is truly unthinkable for me to be in my home socializing with someone who plans to kill me. Unfortunately we have seen this over and over again where the victim knew his killer. We need our young men to think about their relationships and social circles since it could very well save their lives." Chief A.C. Roper.
