TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority invites the community to its 42nd Annual West Alabama Christmas Parade on Monday, December 4. The tree lighting on the steps of the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse begins at 5:15 p.m. The parade begins at 6:30 p.m.
The theme of this year's parade is Peace on Earth. "This is a free, family-friendly event," PARA Public Relations & Marketing Manager Becky Booker said.
"There's free parking, and the entertainment is just fabulous. The entertainment factor, all the lights, the music. You'll see friends, family, people you go to church with, people you go to school with. And then Santa Claus is always a treat, when he arrives at the end of the parade."
Grand marshals this year are Virgie Greene, known for her contributions as an advocate for children and "behind the scenes" worker in the community; Rev. Thomas Linton, active in the civil rights movement; Shelley Jones and Dee Ward, co-founders of the Tuscaloosa Children's Theatre.
