BLOUNT COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - A small volunteer fire department in Blount County needs your help.

Rosa Volunteer Fire Department's main fire engine is currently out of commission after suffering a mechanical failure. One of their tankers and their command vehicle is also out of service.

Now, the department is asking you to help them out so they can continue serving their community.

"We have started a YouCarring account. We are accepting any and all donations to the fire department," said Public Relations Officer Carrie Glass. "If you mail in a donation we will send out a receipt for tax write off purposes."

The fire chief, Billy Glass, says they have applied for every grant that is available.

"We are trying everything possible It's just the fact that as far as repairs there is not a whole lot of grant opportunities out there," said Chief Billy Glass. " It is either for new stuff or something to that effect."

Right now, estimates to fix the main fire engine is $25,566.00

Carrie says that getting all of the donations they can to fix the trucks is very important.
