Murder suspect from Louisiana captured in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - Tuscaloosa County Sheriff Ron Abernathy said Tuscaloosa-area authorities received a BOLO for a mother and son wanted in connection with four Baton Rouge, Louisiana murders because they could be headed this way.

On Monday morning around 11 a.m., they captured Taurus Hamilton and his mother Belinda Hamilton-Folse.

She was arrested first while traveling alone in a car near the Foster's exit on I-59/20.

Minutes later, investigators had her son Taurus in custody too.

They learned he was in the area of Skyland Boulevard and Hargrove Road.

Sheriff Abernathy said deputies, Tuscaloosa Police, and others set up a perimeter there.

Authorities took him into custody without incident.

"You think about how dangerous that could be. What happens if he comes into contact with a police officer that's not aware of it here? What if he's looking for money or a vehicle here and comes across one of our citizens here and that leads to a robbery or a homicide?" Abernathy explained.

Both suspects remain in the Tuscaloosa County Jail until they're sent back to Baton Rouge.
