Birmingham Bulls play first home game in Pelham

PELHAM, AL (WBRC) - The Birmingham Bulls are back and they play their first home game at the Pelham Civic Complex Friday night.

On Friday morning, crews were hard at work preparing the arena.

The Zamboni was out, making sure the ice was ready to go and crews were cleaning and drilling everywhere.

This is not the first time the Bulls have been in Birmingham. They played back from 1977 to 1981 then made a comeback from 1992 to 2002.

Art Clarkson, the team's general partner says now was the time to bring the team back again. "I think we're long overdue. I had people always pestering me about, 'Hey! You going to bring back the Bulls?' And it was right," Clarkson said. "The city of Pelham wanted to move forward, make a statement. It's the Birmingham Bulls, playing in Pelham, but serving the Birmingham metro area. That's what it's all about."

Tickets for Friday's game may be purchased at the arena or online at
