AUBURN, AL (WBRC) - Auburn Athletics will hold two men's basketball players out indefinitely as a federal bribery probe involving the team's coach continues.
The program released the following statement:
Auburn's basketball coach, Chuck Person, was suspended without pay in September after he was charged with wire fraud.
Federal authorities say that Person committed fraud by accepting $50,000 in bribe payments for directing student-athletes to a financial advisor and business manager between Sept. 2016 and Sept. 2017, according to an affidavit.
The school refunded basketball tickets after Person was charged.
