FIRST ALERT: Rain chances climb Wednesday afternoon

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Clouds are on the increase Tuesday night with lows in the mid 50s. We will avoid the rain during the morning commute. Expect increasing clouds on through the day Wednesday with a chance for scattered showers during the afternoon and early evening. Highs will reach 70. Temperatures will fall into the upper 50s.

Right now Thursday looks a bit drier with only a slight chance for rain. The best rain chances will come during the afternoon, but right now only spotty showers and storms are expected. This wetter pattern will continue through the first part of the weekend. While we could see a few thunderstorms, there is no severe weather in the forecast over the next week. Temperatures will again be above average for this time of year.

High school football games could see a few isolated showers and storms, but overall the rain chances look fairly low.  Expect temperatures in the mid 70s Friday afternoon with temperatures at game time around 65. We will see a few thunderstorms Saturday with highs in the mid 70s. No rain is expected Saturday night with clearing skies and mild temperatures. Overnight lows will fall into the upper 50s. Sunday will be mostly sunny with temperatures in the upper 70s with dry weather continuing through early next week.
