HOOVER, AL (WBRC) -

A woman in Hoover fed up over issues with her apartment. A leaky ceiling is turning into mold.

A slow leak has been slowly getting worse for the past seven months

"It has caused mold to appear and grow in different parts of the bathroom,” Shanika Shannon said.

Shannon says the leak is coming from an upstairs neighbor's tub at The Park at Hoover Apartments and dripping into her children's bathroom.  She sent us a handful of pictures showing the progression of it over the past year. She's past tired of dealing with it.

"The ceiling has been coming a part. The paint has been chipping where it's falling in the tub and nobody has bothered or offered to fix it,” Shannon said.

The leak now making its way into her children's closet. Shanika says it's forced her to throw away a lot of stuff.

"They have lost several bags of clothes of their winter and fall clothes, shoes, electronics that we had on the shelf because it's now entering into the next wall in their closet..so it's a really big disappointment,” Shannon said.

She recently moved out and filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office because she hasn't gotten anywhere with management.

"No one has ever offered to charge me less for rent even the months where I always pay late fees if  I was a little late paying. They always accepted my money with no problem and never offered to fix it,” Shannon added.

We did reach out to Arlington Properties, who manages The Park at Hoover, which says it cannot comment due to resident privacy laws but did say the company has addressed her complaint with the AG's office.

We also contacted the AG and are awaiting a response.
