We start off the week with hot and humid conditions once again. Temperatures will rise into the upper 80s and lower 90s Monday afternoon and feels like temperatures will easily range from the middle and upper 90s. The first showers of the day are starting to form as of 11 a.m. Showers and storms will become widely scattered in coverage this afternoon and will be most organized to the south of I-20. The greatest coverage and most intense activity will set up between 3-6 p.m. Primary threats include heavy downpours that could cause localized flooding, lightning and gusty winds.
Rain and storm chances start to drop off after today and will be in the 10-20 percent range through Thursday. Storm coverage looks low on a daily basis until late weekend when better lift arrives. Scattered activity looks to set up by Sunday.
FIRST ALERT for building heat this week and persistent muggy conditions. I’m not going overly aggressive on temperatures for late week because of a couple of factors, but I am still forecasting the hottest temperatures so far this summer. High temperatures starting on Thursday and lingering through Saturday look to range from about 93 to 96 degrees. It will feel in the 100s easily!
Next week still looks hot and humid but not as extreme as it will be late week. Next week also looks quite unsettled again with scattered to numerous showers and storms returning.
