Social media still buzzing about a big announcement in the Nascar world.... Dale Earnhardt, Jr, announced yesterday that he will retire at the end of this season. For local fans that means you only have two opportunities left to see him up close and in person at the Talladega Superspeedway. Earnhardt said during his announcement that he realized last year while out with a concussion that there are other things in life he also wants to focus on these days - mainly his family.
Earnhart has 26 wins as a driver - six of those at Talladega. He's been a fan favorite for years..... gaining his own fans and picking up many of this father's fans, especially after his death in 2001. Earnhardt earned the respect of fans and drivers so much that local drivers named him an honorary member of the Alabama Gang last year. Larry McReynolds, NASCAR on FOX analyst and former crew chief for Dale Earnhardt, Sr., joined us to discuss what this means for the future of NASCAR to lose such a big star.
