A Vestavia Hills coalition called "Help the Hills" is bringing out an army to fight a drug problem that many communities are seeing including the Vestavia Hills area. The first battle plan in this fight is informing the community.
“Help the Hills provides an umbrella to do that work together and provide a united front in the fight against substance abuse," Whit McGhee, spokesperson for
Vestavia Hills High School, said.
Monday at the town hall meeting, city, state, school and church leaders joined the FBI, local law enforcement and first responders to inform their peers about where they are seeing drugs, what they are doing to stop it, and what you can do to help.
Vestavia Hills Police Department wants the community to know that there is a drug drop off box at the police department.
Vestavia Hills High School is holding a drug take-back day on Thursday April 6th at the JV and Varsity Boys soccer and baseball games. Leaders encourage everyone to come out and safely dispose of any old prescription drugs before they end up in the wrong hands.
