AUBURN, AL (WBRC) - The Wenonah Dragons came up short Thursday night in the Super 7 Playoffs falling to Beauregard 33-13.
Beauregard got on the board first when La'Damien Webb ran it in from 25 yards out. Wenonah then responded when Telvin Miller recovered a fumble and ran 75 yards for a touchdown to tie it up at 7 a piece.
In the second quarter, Anthony Hudson came up big for the Dragons, forcing another turnover. A few plays later, quarterback Carlos Rogers found Hudson in the end zone for a 15-yard touchdown to take a 13-7 lead into halftime.
But the Dragons defense just couldn't stop Webb on the ground. Webb ended the night with 51 carries, 359 yards, and five touchdowns earning him the class 5A MVP award.
Beauregard beat Wenonah 33-13 claiming its first state title in school history.
