BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Birmingham's Uptown entertainment district will be the site of Top Golf.

The city council approved a $1.5 million dollar incentive plan for the entertainment and event complex.

Construction could begin within two months on the three-story, two-block driving range on BJCC property from 24th to 26th Streets.

Top Golf estimates more than 450,000 guests in its first year of operation.

"This is one of our first urban settings which we are very excited about. We put a lot of time and money into researching locations and there is a reason Birmingham won that research," said Mark Foster with Top Golf.

The facility will employ up to 500 full and part-time jobs when it opens late 2017.
