JOHNSON CITY, TN (WBRC) -

Samford hopes the FCS Selection Committee will be impressed when it looks at the Bulldogs’ body of work Saturday evening.

SU didn't help its case when it lost to East Tennessee State 15-14 for its eighth win of the season. Without the Southern Conference’s automatic bid, the Bulldogs will have to wait until ESPNU airs the playoff selection show Sunday morning at 10 to learn their fate.

The Bulldogs (7-4, 5-3 SOCON) held a 14-3 lead early in the third quarter but surrendered 12-unanswered points, including a 28-yard field goal as time expired.

Quarterback Delvin Hodges usually steals the show in Samford’s pass happy offense but he took a back seat to the Bulldogs’ rushing game.

K’rondis Larry rushed 12 times for 74 yards and a four-yard touchdown. Roland Adams carried the ball five times for 18 yards and a 14-yard score.

Hodges only passed for 122 yards and completed 14-23 passes.
