Mississippi State had hopes of upsetting No. 1 Alabama on Saturday, especially after the Bulldogs upset Texas A&M last weekend.
But the Crimson Tide crushed any chance of an upset early and poured it on late. Bama cruised to a 51-3 win to improve to 10-0 overall and 7-0 in the Southeastern Conference.
It’s hard to tell who was more dominant between the Tide’s offense and defense. The defenders only gave up 274 yards and three points. But the offense scored 51 points and racked up 615 yards.
Jalen Hurts accounted for 447 of those yards. He passed for 347 yards and completed 28-of-37 passes for four touchdowns.
He also ran for 100 yards and a four-yard touchdown.
Hurts connected with ArDarius Stewart three times for scores on gains of 67, 15 and 20 yards. Calvin Ridley also scored on a four-yard pass from Hurts.
Stewart led with eight catches and 156 yards.
Cooper Bateman found Trevon Diggs on a 5-yard pass for the game’s final score.
Reuben Foster, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Rashaan Evans and Dalvin Tomlinson led the Tide defense with six tackles each.
Tony Brown managed an interception
The Crimson Tide will step outside of conference play on Nov. 19 when they welcome in Chattanooga.
