BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Good evening from the WBRC FOX6 Newsroom. This is Jonathan Hardison with a look at the stories we're following for you tonight:

How desperate are some Shelby County teens to get high on mushrooms? They’re digging up the mushrooms in their backyard, thinking they’ll have the same pyschedelic effect. Our Hannah Ward finds out tonight on WBRC FOX6 News at 9 that they’re ending up in the hospital with mushroom poisoning.

And how bad is it for Fairfield police? New on WBRC FOX6 News at 10, our Jamiese Price is inside city hall where the FOP president is pleading with city leaders to sign off on transfers so some of these officers who aren’t getting a steady paycheck can go work somewhere else and provide for their families. But if they leave, who’s left to protect Fairfield?

Keep up with the latest news on WBRC.com, in the WBRC News app, and follow me on Twitter @FOX6Hardison and on Facebook.
