The Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center, located at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, will host Quit Now Alabama, a tobacco cessation education and outreach event, Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Organizations like the American Cancer Society and the Tuscaloosa Health Department will be in the atrium of the Cancer Center, with help on quitting smoking.
This is also an opportunity for businesses or organizations that want to go tobacco-free or help their employees quit smoking to get information. DCH hospitals went tobacco-free in January 2015.
“It’s not easy to stop smoking, but with the right support and right tools, it can be done,” Director of DCH's Employee Health Department Felicia Ellison said. “This event will give our employees and cancer patients information about how to stop smoking, and employee health nurses can learn how to help others stop smoking.”
