BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Kenny Perry and Bernhard Langer came to the 18th tee tied for the lead, but after Langer bogeyed and Perry birdied it was Perry holding a two shot lead after the first round of the Regions Tradition.
Perry fired a sizzling eight under par 64 to sit atop the leaderboard.
"I hit 18 greens and made some putts. It was basically a stress-free round and I wish I had more of them," Perry said after his first round play was concluded.
Tied for second at six under par is Langer and Gene Sauers, who went out early to grab the early lead before Perry came in late with his 64.
Friday, because of the expectation of rain, tourney officials will use both tee's, number one and ten beginning at 7:45 in the morning with hopes of getting the second round in at Greystone Golf Course.
