Miners lose jobs, Siegelman auctions prison shirt, and Barons 'play ball!'

Good afternoon from the desk of Janet Hall. Here are the stories we're working on for WBRC FOX6 News this evening.

Oak Grove coal miners

Hundreds of coal miners are off the job tonight after the company closed their mine in Jefferson County. The miners at Oak Grove got word late last night after employees voted down a contract offered by parent company Seneca Coal. We'll have much more on this at 5 p.m.

Siegelman auction off prison shirt

You can buy the shirt off former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman's back. He is auctioning off his prison T-shirt complete with his inmate number on E-bay. The goal is to support a documentary to catch the attention of President Obama for a possible pardon. We'll have the latest on the bidding.

Birmingham Barons season opener tonight

The Birmingham Barons open their season tonight at Regions Field. We'll have a live report from Sheldon Haygood as fans and players get ready to "play ball!"

Those stories and more beginning at 5 p.m. on WBRC FOX6 News.
