Are changes coming to Birmingham's city government?

Good evening from the WBRC FOX6 Newsroom. This is Jonathan Hardison with a look at the stories we're following for you tonight:

Is the way Birmingham's city government works about to fundamentally change forever? I'm watching a livestream of a hearing on those proposed changes to the Mayor-Council Act right now with a lot of emotion at Birmingham City Hall and our Lydia Hu is right in the middle of it. She's live starting with WBRC FOX6 News at 9 to explain what these changes would mean and what voters tonight think about them.

We're also covering some breaking news of a now hours-long standoff in Shelby County that started as a domestic violence call and has traffic shutdown on County Road 55 just off of Highway 280 in Westover. Sherea Harris is live at the scene throughout our 90 minutes of news including WBRC FOX6 News at 10.

And we're following some developing news in Northport tonight where a car crashed into a Dollar General store and hurt at least 1 person seriously. That patient is being treated at UAB tonight. We'll track the investigation into what happened when our 90 minutes of news starts on WBRC FOX6 News at 9.
