BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Did you know that there are fewer giraffes in the world than elephants?
The Birmingham Zoo is giving visitors the chance to learn more about these tall and beautiful creatures by bringing back giraffe feedings for the warmer months.
Zoo officials say guests can view the reticulated giraffes at the Kiwanis Giraffe Encounter area and hand feed them from an elevated platform for a small fee.
The giraffe feedings start back this weekend, March 5-6, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. On March 26, it will become a daily Zoo activity, according to zoo officials.
The Zoo only allows giraffe feedings during the spring and summer seasons.
