Cruz wins the Republican Caucus, while Clinton takes a slight lead

Good morning from the digital desk! Here are some of the stories and segments you'll see this morning on Good Day Alabama:

Most of the results are in from the Iowa Caucuses. Ted Cruz has been declared the winner for the Republican Caucus and Hillary Clinton appears to have a slight lead over Bernie Sanders with 49.9 percent of the vote versus his 49.6 percent. We'll hear from a political professor at 7:33 a.m.

Terri Brewer will talk to Kyle Dease about his brush with the Missouri couple wanted in Alabama in connection with a crime spree. The couple allegedly kidnapped Dease from his job was a night clerk at Tuscaloosa's Microtel Inn and Suites Sunday morning. They are also wanted for a second kidnapping in Vestavia Hills and an attempted robbery at a McDonald's in Hoover.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama gifted the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center with a donation of $800, 000. It will go towards research in treatment and therapy.

How does caffeine affect your heart? UAB Nutritionist Dr. Beth Kitchin will tell us whether or not people with heart problems should avoid it.

Susan Swagler will tell us about the new releases hitting bookshelves this month.
