Here's what you saw on Good Day Alabama:
JEH JEH LIVE - Jeh Jeh joined us live from Oak Mountain State Park to take a plunge with the Alabama Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics tomorrow starting at 8 a.m. at Oak Mountain State Park Beach. There will be a costume contest prior to the plunge. All plungers will receive a T-Shirt. A minimum of $50.00 online registration fee is required. The more money you raise, the cooler the swag you receive! All the money raised is supporting Special Olympics Alabama, devoted to sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Registration begins at 8 a.m.
BBJ - Mike talked with Brent Godwin from the Birmingham Business Journal. They discussed the renovations of historic buildings in downtown Birmingham and exactly what the "food hall" will be at the new Pizitz building. RESTAURANT WEEK - With the great success of the past six years, REV Birmingham is pleased to announce an expanded version of Birmingham Restaurant Week to include the first Winter Restaurant Week, presented by Regions Bank. The culinary event started on Monday and runs through Sunday. Like the August BRW, local restaurants offer special two and/or three-course prix-fixe lunch and/or dinner menus for $5, $10, $20 or $30 per person during Winter Restaurant Week. Several participants also offer beer and/or wine flight components and drink specials. Since 2010, BRW has celebrated the city's acclaimed culinary culture by offering incentives for Birmingham-area residents to revisit their favorite restaurants or experience recently opened venues for the first time. BRW 2015, held in August, proved to be the largest yet, with more than 18,000 restaurant week meals sold at over 60 participating locally owned eateries. The brand was refreshed, including a new logo and a new website, all with a theme of 'For the Love of Local,' which will be carried into Winter Restaurant Week. Restaurant applications and more information about Winter Restaurant Week 2016 can be found at www.bhamrestaurantweek.com.
COMEDIAN - Making the most of who Henry Cho is has not been a problem. "I'm an Asian with a southern accent," remarks Cho. "To a lot of people, that right there is funny!" Cho's many other comedy credits include NBC's "Bob Hope's Young Comedians Special," MTV's "1/2 Hour Comedy Hour" and VH-1's "Stand-up Spotlight." For tickets or more information for this weekend's appearances, call the Comedy Club Stardome at 205-444-0008 or visit stardome.com.
ZOO CREW - Kelly Garrison joined us from the Birmingham Zoo to introduce Mickey to the groundhog. To learn more information about the animal or visit the zoo, go to birminghamzoo.com.
