TB outbreak in Perry County, Wintry mix headed to northern counties

. - Good evening from the WBRC FOX6 Newsroom. This is Jonathan Hardison with a look at the stories we're following for you tonight.

TB outbreak in Perry County

We're getting a better handle tonight on the growing tuberculosis outbreak in Perry County. Our Josh Gauntt is camped out tonight at a state Health Department meeting where we just found out about 800 people have been tested so far, with 30 active cases in Marion and 47 latent infections (which may or may not turn into TB) also under close watch. Josh is live tonight on WBRC FOX6 News at 9 with what you need to know if you live in West Alabama and/or end up around someone who's coughing and could be transmitting the treatable condition.

Wintry mix for northern areas of Alabama tomorrow

And while we're trying to quiet the panic on the TB front, we're also trying to just give you facts and not hype about the wintry mix some of our northernmost spots may see in the morning. Wes is in for J-P tonight and tells me he sees this as a Tennessee Valley event with only spots like Hackleburg and Vinemont even flirting with any kind of sleet or flurries tomorrow and whatever we get will come quick and be gone just as fast. Even so, we're all dealing with bone-chilling cold and he's poring over new model data now to give us an updated forecast tonight on WBRC FOX6 News at 10.
