Husband and wife killed in Irondale house fire identified

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The identities of an elderly husband and wife killed in a house fire in Irondale have been released.

Jerry Lewis Guyton, 74, and his wife Barbara Ann Guyton, 74, died of injuries from the fire early Thursday morning, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.

Firefighters responded to a well-involved fire at a home in the 5200 block of Starlite Drive around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, according to Irondale Fire Chief Randy Davis. 

The coroner said Jerry Guyton was pronounced dead on the scene. Barbara Guyton was transported to St. Vincent's East and was pronounced dead at 3:57 a.m.

Chief Davis said firefighters had to force their way inside the home. Neighbors said the couple had two dogs that have not yet been located.
