Fatal tractor trailer fire shuts down I-459 in Hoover

Good morning!  Here are some of the stories we are working on for you this morning on Good Day Alabama:

I-459 is shut down going northbound early this morning because of an 18-wheeler crash.  It's the section between the Highway-31 exit and the Highway-150 exit.  We are live on the scene working to get more details.  We do know the truck is on fire, so police are taking extra precautions.

The weather not as chilly this morning, but you'll still need a coat as you head out the door.  There is a slight risk for severe weather this weekend.  Mickey is working to bring you the latest on that.

This morning, an Alabama state trooper is fired and facing some serious charges.Samuel McHenry II now facing rape and sodomy charges.  The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says the alleged crimes happened while he was on duty.

If you owe the city of Birmingham any money, it's time to pay up.  The mayor's office now announcing the Municipal Court will start a massive collection effort in January.

Uber ridesharing service bringing more transportation options and jobs to the city of Birmingham.   The city council has passed the Uber ordinance and in about 3 weeks the service will start.

The Big-12 says it will require their member schools to schedule a team from the "Power-5" conferences to better their chances of getting into the College Football Playoff.

The Golden State Warriors stay unbeaten in the NBA.

Former Alabama QB, A.J. McCarron and his wife, Katherine, announce they are expecting their first child.
